To prepare for auditions select one or two traditional gospel standards (i.e., His Eye is on the Sparrow, Yes Jesus Loves Me) to sing a cappella.

Free scholarship classes (11-week cycle)
take place on Saturdays
Starting February 23
Passing the music on
from generation to generation!

Selected participants will learn music history and vocal techniques such as placement, breathing, harmony, pitch and control. Students will be encouraged to discover their personal artistic talent and expressions and build self confidence on stage and off. Gospel is an art form. We will celebrate the art and learn to sing from our hearts.

Participants will learn a repertoire of gospel songs in preparation for the end of semester performances.

“I’m on a mission to share the musical art forms of African-Americans that are a foundation for much of today’s music. It is a privilege and a pleasure to pass this music on to teenagers. Singing gospel music is motivational and inspiring whether in church or out.” —Vy Higginsen
